The best thing about Reid's writing is that it was perfect for a 24 year old like me! It wasn't a young adult book about a senior in high school freaking out about going away to college (like all young adult books I've read lately) but it also wasn't your average adult fiction book about a 40 year old woman who needs to find fulfillment in her life again (like all adult romance books I've read lately). This was my perfect happy medium with a narrator who is under thirty, never been married, and about to move across the country to move in with her best friend.
The most interesting part of the book is that it is actually two stories in one. A few chapters into the book- the story breaks off into two different realities. There is one singular event that changes everything in this young narrator's life. This event splits her reality. The realities change every other chapter and it just fascinated me to see how this effected everything in her life. Some things stay the same, some change in ways that wouldn't seem possible.
For a girl like me, I have always believed in fate. I have always believed that everything happens for a reason and these reasons lead you to the person you were meant to be with. This book made all of my prior beliefs change and I had to reevaluate what I believed. Only a truly awesome book could do that.
You need to read this book. Now.
